About This Course

The primary role of a Cyber Security Technologist is to apply an understanding of cyber threats, hazards, risks, controls, measures, and mitigations to protect organizations’ systems and people.

Those focused on the technical side work on areas such as security design & architecture, security testing, investigations & response.

Those focussed on the risk analysis side focus on areas such as operations, risk, governance & compliance.
Whether focusing on the technical or risk analysis side, all people in this occupation work to achieve required security outcomes in a legal and regulatory context in all parts of the economy. They develop and apply practical knowledge of information security to deliver solutions that fulfill an organization’s requirements.

The challenge most small and local businesses face is that hiring a professional full-time is too expensive but hiring a company to do it may become even more costly. So, what can you do? Well, by having one of your employees enrolling an apprenticeship backed by the government or by hiring an apprentice into your ranks you are getting the best of both worlds. You get to grow a professional from the inside, guide them by your company`s standards, and we will train them on the skills that will help your business grow to the next level.

While saving the time you would waste learning everything by yourself, you also save money, as one apprentice isn`t nearly as expensive as a professional.

Individual employers will set the selection criteria including relevant qualifications and experience. The apprentice is likely to be required to demonstrate an aptitude for functional maths and competence in written and spoken English.

Cyber Intrusion Analyst

Course Aims

  • Employer – benefit from a knowledgeable and skilled professional to install security systems that will provide your company with the ability to detect and solve any security breaches.

  • Learner – Learn how to detect breaches in network security, understand alerts and inform the incident response team about system breaches.

About This Course

The Cyber Intrusion Analyst apprenticeship was produced in collaboration with employers to create a course that would not only teach lots of great new skills to the learner but would also have a useful and long-lasting impact on their business.

The primary role of a Cyber Intrusion Analyst is to detect breaches in network security for escalation to incident response or other determined functions. An Intrusion Analyst will typically use a range of automated tools to monitor networks in real-time, will understand and interpret the alerts that are automatically generated by those tools, including integrating and correlating information from a variety of sources and in different forms and where necessary seek additional information to inform the Analyst’s judgment on whether or not the alert represents a security breach. When an Analyst has decided that a security breach has been detected, he or she will escalate to an incident response team, or other determined action, providing both notifications of the breach and evidence with the reasoning that supports the judgment that a breach has occurred. An Analyst will typically work as part of a team (or may lead a team) and will interact with external stakeholders, including customers and third-party sources of threat and vulnerability intelligence and advice.

The skills learned in this apprenticeship are also valuable to any company that self hosts all its in-house documentation and handles large quantities of sensitive customer data and high-value documents on their own cloud storage.

The challenge most small and local businesses face is that hiring a professional full-time is too expensive but hiring a company to do it may become even more costly. So, what can you do?
